How to Get HM Surf in Pokemon: HeartGold for DS

HM Surf, also known as HM03 in the "Pokemon" games, is a special move that can be taught to water type Pokemon. It allows the player to surf across water on the Pokemon that has learned the move to access new areas. In "Pokemon HeartGold," HM Surf is found in Ecruteak city, and is given to you by an old man when you defeat a Team Galactic Grunt at the theatre.

     Go to Ecruteak City and enter the theatre in the center of town.

     Speak to the Team Galactic Grunt who hassles one of the dancers.

     Battle him and defeat his level 12 Koffing.

   • 4

     Leave the theatre and talk to the old man when he intercepts you.
