How to Shine Your Badges

In order to progress through "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Pearl," players must defeat Gym Leaders and obtain badges that will permit them to enter in the Pokemon League. Sadly, If left unchecked, these badges tarnish and will look more and more gray as you continue playing through the game. However, restoring your prized gym badges to their original luster is not hard. All you need to do is polish them using the DS stylus.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "X" to bring up the main in-game menu.

    • 2

Highlight your name and press "A" to view your trainer card. Your trainer card lists information such as your ID number, Pokedex score and how much money you've accumulated. On the bottom screen, below your trainer card information, is a case with pictures of all the gym leaders you have defeated.

    • 3

Tap the button on the bottom of the case with the DS stylus to open it. Inside the case is your gym badge collection.

    • 4

Polish your gym badges by rubbing each of them individually with the DS stylus.

    • 5

Continue polishing your gym badges to max out their shine. Each badge has five levels of shine. As you polish a tarnished gym badge it first changes from gray to lighter gray, but, as you gradually remove more of the tarnish, you bring out its radiance. After about 30 seconds of rubbing, you max out the shine of any badge. You can determine how shiny a badge is by counting the number of sparkles on it. Four sparkles indicates the maximum shine.
