How to Get Lugia Without Cheating on Pokemon Platinum

Lugia is a psychic, Flying-type legendary Pokemon that first appeared as the mascot in "Pokemon Silver." It is not found naturally in "Pokemon Platinum," but thanks to the new Pal Park, it can be transferred into the game. Pal Park appears as a replacement to the traditional Safari Zone in the region. When an older Pokemon game is in the Game Boy Advance slot of the Nintendo DS, players can access Pokemon on that game through the Pal Park.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a third-generation Pokemon game that has a Lugia in it in the GBA slot of your Nintendo DS.

    • 2

Turn on the device and select Pokemon Platinum from the load screen.

    • 3

Obtain the National Pokedex if you haven't already. The National Pokedex is rewarded to players that have encountered every Pokemon native to the Sinnoh region.

    • 4

Fly to Route 221 and enter the Pal Park building.

    • 5

Talk to the man behind the counter. He will ask you which Pokemon you want to transfer from the other Pokemon game in your device. Select Lugia.

    • 6

Enter the park itself. Walk east to the water area, then north to the mountain area.

    • 7

Walk around in the grass until Lugia appears. You will have to recapture it in a normal Pokemon battle.
