How to Get Kanto Starters in Pokemon HeartGold

As lovable as the trio of starter Pokemon are in "Pokemon HeartGold," some Pokemon Trainers may want to obtain one of the classic starter monsters from the Kanto region. The Kanto region was first seen in the "Red" and "Blue" versions of the Pokemon series on the Nintendo Game Boy. By being the best Pokemon Trainer in the game, you will be rewarded with your choice of Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.

Instructions

  Collect the eight Gym Badges from the Gym Leaders of the Johto region. Defeat the Gym Leader's strong Pokemon to be rewarded with that Gym's Badge. Collecting all eight will allow you to challenge the Elite Four.

  Defeat the Elite Four and the current Champion to become the new Johto champion. The Elite Four of "Pokemon HeartGold" specialize in using Psychic, Poison, Fighting and Dark-type Pokemon. The Champion battles with a balanced variety of Pokemon, including Aerodactyl, Dragonite, Gyarados and Charizard.

  Visit Pallet Town in the Kanto region and enter Professor Oak's Laboratory.

  Choose one of the three Kanto region starter Pokemon as your reward for defeating the Elite Four. Walk up to the table with three Pokeballs on it. Either pick Bulbasaur on the right, Charmander on the left or Squirtle in the middle.
