How to Get a Scizor in Pokemon HeartGold

"Pokemon HeartGold" was released for the Nintendo DS in 2010. While most Pokemon evolve through leveling up, some Pokemon - like Scyther - evolve through trading. However, trading Scyther is not enough. You must also trade them to a friend while the Scyther is holding a metal coat. Once the trade is complete, Scyther will evolve into Scizor. There is no way to catch a Scizor in HeartGold.

Instructions

  Buy a Metal Coat from the Pokeathlon Dome. The Metal Coat costs 2,500 points, which can be earned by completing the Pokeathlon events.

  Select "Pokemon" on the menu on the bottom of the screen to access your Pokemon lineup.

  Select Scyther.

  Select "Item." Select "Give." Select the Metal Coat from the "Items" tab. Scyther will now be holding the Metal Coat.

  Travel to any Pokecenter in the game. Pokecenters are located in each town and have a bright red roof with a Pokeball on it. Have a friend do the same on Nintendo DS.

  Walk upstairs to the second floor. Speak to the woman behind the middle desk. Have your friend do the same and you will both be transported to the Union Room.

  Press "A" next to your friend's character and select "Trade." Select your Scyther. Your friend may select any Pokemon.

  Select "Trade." The two Pokemon will be traded. Upon completion of the trade, your Scyther will evolve into Scizor.

  Trade your friend's Pokemon back to him while he trades your Scizor back to you.
