How to Get Past the Snorlax in SoulSilver

In "Pokemon SoulSilver," you must travel to towns and cities via routes, but some routes have puzzling obstacles that will keep you from reaching your next destination. For example, on Route 11 in the Kanto region, a sleeping Snorlax blocks you from traveling further east or entering Diglett's Cave. Your only option is to awaken the snoozing giant, but you'll have to complete several missions beforehand.
