How to Get a Torchic Egg

Torchic is one of three starter Pokemon that a player must choose from at the beginning of Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Emerald. Starter Pokemon have a disproportionately high chance of being male, which can make breeding difficult. When a male and female Pokemon that are in the same "egg class" are left at Pokemon Daycare, they produce an egg. The offspring will be the lowest evolutionary form of the female parent.

Instructions

  Figure out the gender of your Torchic, Combusken or Blaziken. The gender symbol appears next to the name of your Pokemon in battles.

  Find a Pokemon to mate with your Pokemon. If your Pokemon is male, you can only breed it with a Ditto. In Ruby and Sapphire, Ditto can not be found naturally. Find a friend who has a Ditto and trade. You will need a link cable to trade between devices. In Pokemon Emerald, Ditto is found behind the Fossil Maniac's house on Route 114. If your Pokemon is female, find any male Pokemon in the "Ground" egg group.

  Fly to Mauville City. Walk west out of the city to Pokemon Daycare. Talk to the person behind the counter and deposit your Torchic, Combusken or Blaziken and your Ditto.

  Ride your bike for awhile. For every 256 steps taken, there is a chance your egg will be born.

  Check the front of Pokemon Daycare. If an old man is standing out front, he has a Torchic egg for you.
