How to Get Your WEP on a DSi

WEP, a relatively lax form of router security, restricts access to the router based on a passcode. The Nintendo DSi supports WEP encryption, meaning the portable gaming system can connect to the Internet via any WEP-secured router. In order to connect to the router, you must access your DSi's "Connection Settings" menu, which helps you choose a network and enter its corresponding WEP password.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the DSi without any games inserted in the device's game slots. This boots up the main menu.

    • 2

Open "System Settings." Various options appear.

    • 3

Tap the blue arrow buttons on the screen to access page "3," indicated on the top-right corner of the screen.

    • 4

Tap "Connection Settings." This is where you can set up your Internet and enter your WEP key.

    • 5

Tap "None" next to a "Connection" slot to set up your connection.

    • 6

Touch "Search for an Access Point." The DSi retrieves a list of available wireless Internet connections.

    • 7

Tap the wireless network's name from the list. This prompts you to enter a WEP key if the network has WEP security.

    • 8

Touch the "WEP" field and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the WEP key. Tap "OK."

    • 9

Tap "OK" again and then tap "Save Settings."

    • 10

Tap "Yes" to test the connection. The DSi connects to the WEP-secured wireless network.
