Locate New Fossils
Dig in every location you enter. Each area contains Vivosaurs that are found exclusively to each area. These fossils are found randomly, so dig frequently and in many locations to find the best Vivosaurs. After you beat the main storyline, the game opens several new locations that contain some of the rarest and most powerful fossils. One new location is Coldfeet Glacier, a frozen wasteland, which holds the Mammoth and Spino fossils.
Research Vivosaurs
Research every Vivosaur you find to see if their abilities suit your playing style. Each of these creatures can add something special to the team. For example, Paraloph is the best counter-attacking Vivosaur. It would be best suited for the front lines of most battles. A Vivosaur with a long-range attack like Salto is highly compatible with most Vivosaurs, even lone-wolf characters like Carno. Balance the strengths and weaknesses of each Vivosaur to create an effective team.
Study the Elements
Learn and memorize the strengths and weaknesses of each Vivosaur's elements. There are five elements and each Vivosaur is classified under one. Neutral Vivosaurs like O-Raptor are effected equally by all elemental types. Each natural element has an advantage over another. Fire beats earth, earth beats air, air beats water and water beats fire. If you know you are going to face fire element Vivosaurs, use water Vivosaurs such as Dilopho and Onyx.
Team Building
The best way to see how well a team will fare is to test it in the field. Experiment with different creatures in different battlefield locations to see what changes their abilities bring about in the fight. If your team lacks physical strength, dig for a T-Rex or a Krona. If you are facing opponents that seem too strong, use attacks that cause debilitating effects such as "Discord" and "Toxic Ruin" from Vivosaurs like Anato and Cryo. Attacks like those cause the opponent's Vivosaurs to become confused or poisoned. It limits their combative abilities.
