How to Beat the Champion in Soulsilver

Lance is the champion in "Pokemon: SoulSilver." He specializes in Dragon type Pokemon, which are resistant to many different types of attacks and possess a wide range of abilities. The wide range of attacks and defenses his Pokemon possess can make him difficult to defeat. The final encounter against Lance does not occur until the player has won all eight Johto Gym Badges and all eight Kanto Gym Badges.

Things You'll Need

4 Level 70+ Ice type Pokemon
1 Level 70+ Electric type Pokemon
1 Level 70+ Rock type Pokemon

Instructions

- 1
  Move one of the Ice type Pokemon to the top of the list in the menu. Salamance, the first Pokemon Lance sends out, is weak to Ice damage.

  Use Ice type attacks to attempt to kill Salamance as quickly as possible.

  Switch to an Electric type Pokemon after Salamance dies. The next Pokemon Lance sends out is Gyarados.

  Use Electric type attacks to kill Gyarados. Switch to your Rock type Pokemon. The next Pokemon Lance sends out is Charizard.

  Use Rock type attacks to kill Charizard. Dragon Claw is the only attack Charizard does that can do regular damage to a Rock Pokemon, and it is relatively non-lethal.

  Switch to an Ice type Pokemon after Charizard dies. All of the remaining Pokemon Lance has are weak to Ice.
- 7
  Use Ice type attacks to defeat Garchomp, Altaria and Dragonite. Switch to one of your other Ice Pokemon whenever one gets near death.
