How to Set Up MoonShell on Games n' Music

MoonShell is a program created by amateur programmers that can be used to view all manner of multimedia. These include video, text files, MP3s and more. Installing the program is relative quick, but take time to ensure that all steps are followed correctly.

  • Games n' Music cartridge
  • MicroSD card
  • MicroSD reader
  • GnM DLDI and Patcher application
  • MoonShell version 1.71 zip archive

Instructions

    • 1

      Push a Micro SD card into a MicroSD reader.

      Insert the reader in the USB port of your computer.

      Download the Moonshell zip file (see Resources). Save it to your desktop and double-click on it to extract it into a folder.

      Open the folder and locate the "Setup.exe" file. Double-click on it and select the setup target drive in the window using the pulldown menu. Your MicroSD card will be listed under "Removable [GAMESNMUSIC]. Click on "OK."

      Locate "ROM images" in the window and click on any of the options available.

      Press on the "Setup" button at the bottom of the window to begin the MicroSD card installation process.

      Wait for the installation process to finish and then press on "OK."

      Go to the contents of your MicrosSD card. Locate and rename the "BOOT_MP.NDS" file to "moonshell.nds".

      Open the DLDI Patcher program. Open the "GAMESNMUSIC" file within the program by selecting the MicroSD card. Click on "Moonshell.nds" and press "Open." Press "Patch" and ensure that the program tells you the patch has been successful. Moonshell has now been set up successfully.
