How to Edit Songs & Save Them on a DSi

Although it's not possible to edit music files saved on your Nintendo DSi's SD card, you can record 10-second clips of songs playing on your stereo or being performed live to experiment with later. If you make sure you're as near to the source of the sound as possible, you can get a good-quality recording of any song using the DSi's built-in microphone

Instructions

    • 1

Use the DSi stylus to select the sound icon from the main menu.

    • 2

Tap on "Record and edit a sound" and then select an empty sound balloon.

    • 3

Start playing the song you want to record and tap on the red record button when you reach a segment you'd like to edit. Your DSi will stop recording automatically after 10 seconds. Your clip will play back automatically when recording has stopped.

    • 4

Tap on "OK" if you're happy with your recoding and wish to save it. You'll also need to choose a color for your sound clip balloon.

    • 5

Tap on the balloon representing the clip you've just recorded. You'll be presented with a range of editing options.

    • 6

Use the stylus to change speed and pitch, apply effects and treatments and alter the playback mode. Tap on "Overwrite" and then "OK" to save the changes you've made.
