How to Find a Scyther

Scyther is a bug- and flying-type creature from the Pokemon game series. Scyther resembles a praying mantis insect with bladed wings for arms. Introduced in the first generation of Pokemon games, Scyther has remained a strong competitor throughout the series. Although Scyther cannot be found in the latest versions of Pokemon, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, Scyther can be obtained in earlier versions such as Pokemon Platinum, Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver.

Instructions

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver

  Wait until Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. The bug-catching contest is only held on these days.

  Play through the game until you reach Goldenrod City in the Johto Region.

  Leave Goldenrod City by the north exit to enter Route 35.

  Follow Route 35 to reach the National Park.

  Speak to the park attendant at the entrance to begin the bug-catching contest.

  Select a Pokemon from your team that is strong against bug-type Pokemon, including fire, flying and rock types.

  Walk in the tall grass until you have a random encounter. Choose "Run" if the Pokemon is not a Scyther.

  Weaken the Scyther using your Pokemon's attacks. If possible, put the Scyther to sleep to increase your chances of capture.

  Select "Bag" and use a sport ball to capture the weakened Scyther.
Pokemon Platinum

  Play through the game until you reach Solaceon Town in the Sinnoh Region.

  Leave Solaceon Town through the north exit to enter Route 210.

  Walk through the tall grass along Route 210 until you have a random encounter. Select "Run" if the encountered Pokemon is not a Scyther.

  Attack the Scyther until its health is in the yellow or red.

  Select "Bag" and use a Pokeball to capture the weakened Scyther.
