Solve the mysteries. The game contains six mysteries, each with its own set of characters and objectives. Gather the clues needed to solve the mysteries. In mystery one, for example, you need to determine that two sets of footprints overlap in order to move on in the puzzle. Don't leave any stone unturned. The answer to a clue may be in the strangest of places.
Talk to everyone. Kit Kittredge is an intrepid girl reporter with a nose for news and a smell for a story. The best way to gather the facts needed to write a story is talk to sources. Each source will have something to say. Of course, you might have to dig deep to find the answers. You may have to talk to one person to get the necessary details you need before someone else will open up. Part of the fun in the game is finding those key participants.
Think on your feet. A big feature of Kit Mystery Challenge is the riddle, a puzzle with an answer so simple you may whack your head wondering why you didn't know the answer. Riddles in the game are geared to the core audience of pre-teen girls and come with answers that make sense ("What can you hold without your hands or arms?" The answer is "breath").
Dress for success. A common activity pre-teens like is to play dress-up. There are six outfits Kit has at her disposal, and to solve mysteries sometimes Kit has to change clothes. With the proper attire, she will be recognized by characters and soon her Clue Book will have enough details in it to close the chapter and move on to the next one.
