How to Text and Email on the DSi

The Nintendo Dual Screen (DS) is a portable system from Nintendo that offers Wi-Fi capabilities. Models of the DS include the DSi and the DSi XL. On the original DS, it was not possible to send texts or emails, however, on the newer DSi model, a Web browser is included. This makes it possible to send text messages and emails on the DSi.

How to Send a Text Message

  Visit www.yahoo.com on your computer to create a free Yahoo email account.

  Click on the "Add Contact" button.

  Enter the contact name.

  Enter the contact's 10-digit cell phone number in the email field, followed by the email server of their cell phone provider. A list of email servers for phone companies can be found at http://www.email-unlimited.com/stuff/send-email-to-phone.htm.

  Save the contact.

  Turn on your DSi and open the Web browser.

  Click on "Go to Page" and visit m.yahoo.com.

  Click on the "Mail" link in the top right corner and sign in.

  Click "Compose" to write a new message and select the phone number contact you entered in step 4 from your address book.

  Type the message in the message box under the subject line and hit "Send." You may be asked for verification. This will send your message to the contact's phone as a text message.
How to Email

  Open the Web browser on your DSi.

  Click "Go to Page" and type in the address for your email provider. If your provider offers a mobile version of their email service, use that option.

  Compose and send an email as usual.
