My Nintedo DS Lite Has a Broken Hinge

The Nintendo DS Lite is a portable gaming system released by Nintendo in 2006. The system features two displays, a touchscreen, a microphone and Internet capabilities. Unfortunately, a small percentage of these devices are manufactured with flawed hinges connecting the top and bottom displays. In units with this flaw, the two screens separate after the connecting hinges crack or snap off. In most cases, this renders the system unusable, and it can cause permanent damage to the cords connecting the two screens. Nintendo acknowledged the faulty hinges, and has offered to freely repair any affected consoles. Attempting to repair the console yourself will void your warranty.

Examine your system, taking a thorough inventory of the damage that has occurred. You'll be asked to provide a detailed description of your problem when working with Nintendo Customer support, so create a concise explanation to describe the state of your DS Lite. Take note of any severed cords, as well as responsiveness to button presses, charging, microphone input and anything else that may be malfunctioning with your device.

Package your DS Lite carefully and make sure to properly record your return address. You'll be given a free shipping label to print off by the Nintendo service representatives; affix this label to the top of your package. Turnaround times are usually no longer than two weeks.
