Size, Screens and Color
The DS Lite is 5.2 inches wide, .85 inches tall and 2.9 inches long when it's closed. It has a backlit, three-inch top screen with a transmissive TFT color LCD that has 256 x 192 pixel resolution and a .24 mm dot pitch. It's capable of displaying 260,000 colors. The touch screen has the same specs as the top screen, but with a transparent analog screen and a stylus for touch-screen usage. The DS Lite comes in coral pink, crimson/black, metallic rose, metallic silver, polar white and cobalt/black.
Controls and Input/Output Terminals
This system uses A/B/X/Y face buttons with "L" and "R" shoulder buttons, a control pad and "Start" and "Select" buttons. It also features an embedded microphone for voice recognition. Ports for both Nintendo DS game cards and Game Boy Advance Game Paks come standard, along with terminals for an additional microphone and stereo headphones. The Game Boy Advance port also has a removable cover to protect the slot from dust.
CPU, Wireless Communication and Supported Languages
One ARM9 and one ARM7 come as the available CPUs. The DS Lite's wireless range is between 30 and 100 feet using IEEE 802.11 wireless standards and Nintendo's proprietary format. Multiplayer games can be played by multiple users with one DS game card. The system supports the English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian and German languages.
Features
The DS Lite has a lithium-ion battery capable of delivering five to 19 hours of gameplay on a four-hour charge. It has a power-saving sleep mode and comes with an AC adapter. The stereo speakers offer virtual surround sound, depending on what software you're using. The DS Lite also comes with Embedded Pictochat software that lets up to 16 local users chat at the same time. Additional features include an embedded real-time clock and time, date and alarm functions.
