How to Remove a Disc from a Wii U

The mechanics of the Nintendo Wii U can cause the "Eject" button to become unresponsive if the AC adapter malfunctions. When this error occurs, the light on the "Eject" button may turn orange or red, indicating a problem. Although it seems counterintuitive, this can happen even if the Wii U is otherwise working normally, leaving you able to play the game in the machine but unable to remove it. Nintendo provides a way to reset the AC adapter and restore full operation.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Wii U off and unplug the AC adapter from the machine and the wall socket. Remove any controllers or other accessories from the Wii U as well.

    • 2

Wait two minutes for the charge to dissipate in the Wii U and the AC adapter.

    • 3

Plug the adapter back into the machine and the outlet and wait for the "Eject" button to turn white.

    • 4

Press the "Eject" button to remove the disc.
