How to Race the Banana Cup on Mario Kart Wii

The Banana Cup in ̶0;Mario Kart Wii̶1; is one of four cups that feature visually upgraded versions of classic ̶0;Mario Kart̶1; tracks. You̵7;ll find Sherbet Land from ̶0;Mario Kart 64,̶1; Shy Guy Beach from ̶0;Mario Kart Super Circuit,̶1; Delfino Square from ̶0;Mario Kart DS̶1; and Waluigi Stadium from ̶0;Mario Kart: Double-Dash,̶1; all waiting for you to power-slide and boost your way to victory. Racing this cup can be a challenge, but every course has a few key elements that can be exploited for better times.

Instructions

    • 1

Use your kart̵7;s hop function to cut the 90-degree ice corners in Sherbet Land. You risk falling in the water, but successfully leaping over the corners can shave seconds off your lap time.

    • 2

Head to the right around the massive ice boulder just before Sherbet Land̵7;s tunnel entrance to find a hidden boost ramp and some power-up cubes.

    • 3

Keep a watchful eye for incoming mortar shells in Shy Guy Beach. They have a large explosion radius, and being smacked by one can deflate your hopes of a first place finish.

    • 4

Skip the grassy field near the finish line of Shy Guy Beach by sticking to the sandy strip of beach on the left.

    • 5

Watch for shortcut opportunities in Delfino Square. There is a boost-only jump to the left as you exit the main town and a hidden alley just a bit further up the track to the right. You can also boost over the grass on the course instead of turning around it.

    • 6

Hit each boost ramp in Waluigi Stadium as close to center as possible. This gives you the highest chance of hitting a power-up cube in the air.

    • 7

Perform jump stunts (by shaking the Wiimote) off every hump in the course. This keeps you boosted for the majority of the race.
