Control Problems
If you find your character unresponsive or acting sluggish, there could be a few symptoms causing it. There is always a chance that any unlicensed third party controller will not work properly with any game; when possible, use only Nintendo licensed controllers. Always ensure your controller has fresh batteries, as batteries that are nearing the end of their charge can interfere with the controller's accuracy. If possible, move the sensor bar to a different location to increase the responsiveness of the controller. Generally, problems with unresponsive or sluggish control stem from hardware issues and not with the game itself.
Freezing Problems
If you have problems with your "Lego Batman" disc freezing during gameplay, the problem is generally in one of two places. Inspect your "Lego Batman" disc for any scratches on the underside of the disc; if the disc contains deep scratches or a large number of scratches, it will freeze at varying locations and must be replaced. If your Wii is overheating, it can also cause the system to freeze. Do not place your Wii in an enclosed area, making sure that it has plenty of open air space to properly ventilate.
Problems Earning Studs
A varying amount of studs, the "Lego Batman" form of currency, must be collected during each level to obtain Super Hero or Super Villain status. In addition, studs are also used to unlock additional characters to play as. If you are having trouble collecting enough studs, enter these cheat codes in the Batcave. These codes only need to be entered once and can be turned on or off in the game's "Cheats" menu. For a x10 multiplier to your studs, enter 18HW07. For a stud magnet, allowing all available studs to be attracted to you so you do not miss any, enter the code LK2DY4.
Problems Collecting Items
When you first play a level in Story mode, you will see items that your current characters cannot access. For example, an item such as a minikit or red brick may be placed behind a glass wall that a character cannot break. To get these items, you will have to replay the level in Free Play mode. Free Play mode allows you to replay a level with any unlocked character and is the only way to access a large portion of the collectibles. For example, when playing Free Play mode you are now able to use the sonic suit Batman to shatter the glass you encountered previously, whereas in Story mode you were only limited to using regular Batman.
