Help for the Scooby-Doo! Swamp Game for Wii

"Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Swamp" is a children's video game for Nintendo's Wii console that features elements of action, adventure and puzzle games. The player must direct Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne through three different worlds as they try to collect stew ingredients for witches. To progress in the game, focus on solving mysteries, stick to your mission objectives and learn the different ways to use each character.
  1. Character Attributes

    • Each of the five different characters that you can control in "Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Swamp" have different attributes that make each useful at different times during game play. During combat, use Velma or Shaggy to attack long-range enemies, while Fred, Daphne and Scooby are better suited against close-range enemies with their melee attacks. Each character can also complete unique tasks to solve in-game puzzles. For instance, Fred can move larger objects to clear a path, Daphne can climb poles to reach items in high areas and Velma can open door locks and use different gadgets. Press the "C" button on your Wii controller to switch between characters.

    Buttons vs. Motion Sensor

    • Game play makes much more use of the Wii controller's buttons rather than the motion sensor system; most of the major actions performed by characters are limited to button control. To jump, press the "A" button; press the "B" button to attack or throw an object that your character is holding. You can move your character across the screen using the Wii nunchuk controller and interact with characters in the game by walking up to them and pressing the "Z" button. The Wii controller's motion sensor is used sparingly for less important utilities, such as controlling a flashlight, or for certain events, like rearranging items during the game's puzzle events.

    Avoiding Combat

    • All of the various enemies appearing throughout the three game areas of "Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Swamp" can be defeated in combat, but it's not necessary to defeat each one. In fact, the game can be completed much faster by running past most enemies and only defeating the few that get in your way. Most of the basic enemies appearing in the Wii game respawn, which makes defeating every enemy very difficult. Bosses appearing at the end of each level have to be defeated in combat before a player can proceed in the game, however.

    Solving Mysteries

    • To progress in the game you need to solve mysteries at different points that advance the game's plot. These mysteries typically involve determining the identity of that level's villain from the various non-player characters appearing in that level. Clues leading a player towards the villain's identity are obtained by talking to the different non-player characters in a level. Again, you can interact with computer-controlled characters by walking your character up to them and pressing the "Z" button.
