How to Get Past the Purple Fog in Twilight Princess

In "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," a Japanese role-playing game available on the Nintendo GameCube and the Wii, your character eventually comes across a thick, purple, poisonous fog that deteriorates his health as long as he stands inside of it. You can only cross this fog safely through one means, and that is by obtaining the lantern from Coro inside of Faron Woods.

Instructions

  Play through the game until you come across Coro, a man standing beside a fire pit in Faron Woods. He automatically gives you a lantern to equip.

  Continue playing the game as normal until you return to the Ordon Forest, where you first encountered the purple fog.

  Press the "Minus" button on your Wii remote or "Start" on your GameCube controller to bring up the item list. Press "A" with either system on the lantern to select it and equip it, and then press "Minus" or "Start" again to return to the game.

  Walk up to the purple fog, triggering a cut-scene. A monkey takes your lantern and runs across the fog, clearing it. Follow the monkey's trail quickly to get past the fog.
