The Basics
"Remington Super Slam Hunting: Africa" for the Nintendo Wii is an arcade-style FPS (first-person shooter) that allows you to hunt and kill over 15 different kinds of animals scattered throughout the African landscape. Some of these animals include lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, hippos, alligators, birds, varmints and leopards. The game features 35 different missions -- or levels -- and over 30 different weapons to choose from. At all times, you will have a secondary weapon -- a pistol -- at your disposal.
Within A Level
Within each level, you earn points for killing animals. The amount of points you earn will be displayed on screen. Depending on how many points you earn within a level, you will receive either a bronze, silver or gold medal. You must earn at least a bronze medal to proceed to the next level. If you earn enough points, you can access the weapons room to upgrade your weapon choices. Weapons include rifles and snipers. Some levels place you on foot, while others place you within a jeep. Weather conditions within each level vary between rain, fog, high wind and sun. Some levels take place within a brush fire.
The Killing
You must use a gun of some sort to kill the animals within "Remington Super Slam Hunting: Afirca," as compared to other first-person shooter games that feature a melee attack. A melee attack allows you to use your weapon as a hitting device instead of a shooting device. If you have the sniper rifle, you can zoom in on your prey to complete a head-shot. You can also kill animals from afar. A meter rests toward the bottom of the screen that turns green. The more animals you kill, the more green it becomes. Once the meter is completely green, you can access slow-motion. All of your prey will move in slow-motion, making them easier to kill.
Options
If hunting alone is not your style, you can access the multiplayer features within the game. Up to four players can play against each other at one time offline, or you can team up with a buddy in co-op mode. Take the game online, and you can enter your scores on a leader board, display your medals or display your achievements.
