Umbrella Chronicles Vs. Darkside Chronicles

"Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles" and "Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles" take you on a fast-paced horror adventure where you need to keep shooting to stay alive. Both games, for the Nintendo Wii, allow you and a partner to team up and fend off zombies and mutated creatures. The games have many similarities, but a few minor differences set them apart.
  1. The Characters

    • In "The Umbrella Chronicles," players control eight different characters from the "Resident Evil" universe. Fans of the series will recognize the stars of the original game, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker. Players also control the mercenaries Carlos Oliveira and Hunk, as well as the mysterious Ada Wong. The wrongly accused criminal, Billy Coen, and the rookie officer, Rebecca Chambers, make an appearance as well.

Chris Redfield returns in "The Darkside Chronicles," along with a new cast of characters. Joining him is his little sister, Claire Redfield, police officer Leon Kennedy and an escaped prisoner, Steve Burnside. Players also control the violent mercenary, Jack Krauser.

    The Enivornment

    • "The Umbrella Chronicles" takes players through the stories of three games: "Resident Evil: Zero," the original "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil 3." The game takes you through a wrecked train, the infamous zombie-filled mansion and the lonely and abandoned Raccoon City.

In "The Darkside Chronicles," players revisit scenarios from "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil: Code: Veronica." Players explore a maze-like police station and an island filled with deadly experiments. Between chapters, players work toward solving a mystery in South America.

    Game Basics

    • Both "The Umbrella Chronicles" and "The Darkside Chronicles" feature on-rails shooting action. Players view the action from a first-person perspective. They can play with a computer-controlled partner or invite a friend to join the zombie hunt. Both games offer a range of weapons, such as the basic handgun, shotgun and assault rifle. Players earn points for shooting zombies, and they can spend those points to upgrade weapons. Each game also features dozens of secrets to find, like collectible artwork or notes that explain more of the game's story.

    New Controls

    • In "The Umbrella Chronicles," players control the camera manually using the Nunchuk analog stick. "The Darkside Chronicles" removes manual camera control. Instead, the Nunchuk analog stick lets players switch weapons. The ammo meter, previously placed directly under the aiming reticule, is now found at the edge of the screen. Both games let you control aiming and shooting with the Wii Remote.
