How to Catch Ganondorf as a Dog in Zelda: Twilight Princess

The final battle with Ganondorf occurs in four stages. First, he takes control of Zelda and you must fight her in the throne room atop Hyrule Castle. Then, Gandondorf himself takes the form of an enormous boar named Dark Beast Ganon. Some people mistake this for a dog or a bull, but he is actually a giant pig during this fight, in keeping with series canon that the power of the Triforce can transform him into a porcine beast. In this form, Ganon lunges directly at you; to defeat him, you must catch him.

Instructions

- 1
  Seek a safe position at the beginning of the fight while Dark Beast Ganon charges around the throne room, toppling pillars and making a huge mess.

  Stand by as he disappears into a portal. He then opens several fake portals before finally emerging from one. The correct portal has a purple color, different from the fakes.

  Position yourself in front of the portal as he emerges from it, then shoot him in the head with an arrow as he charges at you to stun him.

  Move in and attack the scar on his belly with your sword.

  Retreat and repeat this process. Watch out for his attempt to dive bomb you by emerging from a portal in the air above you. If you see his shadow start to darken around you, get out of the way.

  Carry on the fight until Ganon changes his tactics. Eventually he begins to evade your arrows completely by disappearing into a portal.

  Change into Wolf Link form.

  Wait for Ganon to emerge from a portal. Position yourself directly in front of the portal, but give yourself enough distance to react to his charge. This section of the fight mimics earlier challenges in the game where you had to grapple with Ordon Goats, King Bulbin and the Gorons.

  Target Ganon until he is about to trample you.

  Press the action button at the last moment to seize hold of him. Instead of Link directly grappling with the huge Ganon, Midna grabs him with her hair.

  Keep pressing the action button rapidly until Midna topples Ganon onto his side.

  Move in and attack the scar on Ganon's belly with your sword.

  Retreat and repeat this process until Ganon succumbs. He emerges from his portals more and more quickly as he gets closer to defeat. After you win, a cutscene begins and you will leave Hyrule Castle for the third stage of the fight.
