Midstream Goal
The midstream stage is filled with all sorts of fish, but to advance you need to catch four pale chubs. These fish are found in the shallow waters between the two rocks in the dead center of your screen. Up to five "A" button swings and a "B" button cast will land your lure where you need it. The chubs will play with the hook a little, but once they've bitten a few times, set the hook and reel them in.
Mountain Stream Goal
At the mountain stream, you have several different fish that you need to catch to proceed to the next level. Cast into the dark water on the left side of the screen to catch the Yamame Trout. To catch the River Mackerel, cast deep into the center of your screen and watch as your line drifts toward the point of the rock that's closest to your boat. Drag your line to the left and reel the bait in so it doesn't get caught on the rock and break.
Catch the Yellowtail
When asked to catch the Yellowtail, send your casts as far off to the left side of the screen as you can. The biggest fish are off to that side in the deep water, and with patience you can hook some record setting fish.
Upstream Rainbow and Sakura Trout
In the Upstream level, you have to catch a Rainbow Trout and a Sakura Trout. To catch the Rainbow Trout, cast some bait into the dark pool at the top-left of the screen. To catch the Sakura Trout, switch to a rod that uses lures. Cast your lure into the shallow water space between the dark pool on the left and the white water on the right. When the Sakura comes, be patient and wait until it bites before you set the hook and reel it in.
