How to Use BootMii or Boot2 With Your Wiimote

BootMii is a software modification to the Nintendo Wii video gaming console. This software can be set to load the Boot2 software, rather than the standard Wii input operating system. BootMii and Boot2 allows you complete control of the Wii, and can be compared to entering a PC into safe mode as an administrator. It provides you with a way to bypass the normal loading process of the console and enter into a recovery mode in case there is a problem. Because BootMii uses the most basic low-level controls of the Wii, your Wiimote connection and other wireless connections are disabled; however, you can still navigate the BootMii menu using your Wii console's buttons or a connected GameCube controller.

     Push the "Power" button on the front of your Wii console to move to the next option on the BootMii menu. Do not worry; this does not turn off your Wii. You can also use the right arrow on the directional pad of a GameCube controller if you have one connected.

     Go back to a previous option with the "Eject" button on the front of your Wii console, or the left arrow on the GameCube's directional pad.

     Select an option by pressing the "Reset" button on the front of the Wii, or with the "A" button on the GameCube controller.

     Exit BootMii by either selecting the appropriate option, or performing a hard restart of your Wii console by holding down the "Power" button for at least 5 seconds.
