How Do I Stop the Code Dumps on My WiiSX?

The WiiSX is a Homebrew application for the Wii console that allows users to emulate PlayStation games and play them with a Wii controller or Gamecube controller. As of August 2011, the software is still in multiple beta modes and provides unstable playing for players. One of the main issues occurs when a game freezes and data known as a "Code Dump" appears. In this case you need to reset the Wii. You can fix this error with some trail and error.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the game compatibility list to see if the game you want to play is listed as "Playable." WiiBrew hosts this list and constantly updates with new titles and information.

    • 2

Use a "BIN" version of the game. When the games are added to the WiiSX, they are in "BIN" or "IMG" files. The "IMG" files are a lot more unstable than the "BIN" files and cause multiple code dumps when you try to play the games.

    • 3

Upload game data using the SD card. The SD card can process information a lot faster than a disc upload. While the disc tries to load in the Wii, the FPS slow down could cause a code dump on the game.

    • 4

Skip any cut scenes in a game. Cut scenes are animated scenes where players simply watch the story and plot move forward. Skip these scenes to prevent code dumps because those scenes often freeze up.

    • 5

Skip all the "Save Data" screens. Since you cannot save data in the WiiSX, the games will try to look for a memory card anyway. When this occurs, the game freezes and a code dump is performed. Play the games straight out and skip any saving to prevent code dumps.

    • 6

Update the WiiSX software whenever possible. New updates make games work better and help remove the code dumps that cause the software to freeze.
