How to Hook Movies Through a Wii to a TV

Unlike other video game consoles, the Wii does not include a built-in DVD or Blu Ray player. Though this device does not play DVDs, you can still watch movies through the Wii using a Netflix account. Netflix offers a variety of movies, TV shows and documentaries that stream online through the Internet. Keep in mind your Wii must be set to recognize your Internet connection in order to use this service. A wireless router is required because the Wii does not have an Ethernet jack on the console.

  Hook your Wii up to your television. Plug the AV cord into the back of the Wii in the labeled jack, and plug the colors in to the designated jacks on your television. Plug the white into the white jack, red in red and yellow in yellow. Plug the power cord into the Wii and into a free jack on your television. Tune your television to the input your Wii is plugged into. For example, HDMI or component 1. Make sure your router is on and the Wii recognizes your Internet connection.

  Sign up for a Netflix account online. Visit the Netflix website. Click the "click here" link next to "not a member?" Fill in all your information including your credit card, billing address and new user name and password. Log into your account with your user email and password.

  Power on the Wii. Move the remote over "Start" and hit the "A" button. Choose "Netflix" from the main menu. Hit "A" over the "start" option. When Netflix starts to load it will ask you to enter a passcode that verifies your membership. Leave the television on this screen while you visit Netflix's Wii page to verify you will be using your account with a Wii. The website will provide a code you must type into the Wii. Click the box and a keyboard will appear on the screen. Move the remote over each letter or number. Hit "A" to enter the number in the box followed by "done" when completed. Once the unit confirms the information with the website, you can start viewing instant streaming movies through your Wii.
