How to Customize My Wii With LED Lights

If you spend a lot of time with your Wii game console, you may find yourself eventually wanting to make it look different, or just distinct from other consoles that may be around. One way to customize your Wii game console is to change the color of the LED lights in the DVD slot. You can accomplish this task with an inexpensive kit and some basic dis-assembly and re-assembly. These custom DVD gate kits are available from companies that specialize in custom parts for video gaming systems, such as Talismoon (talismoon.com) and NexMod (nexmod.com).

  Remove the two stickers from the left side of the console, then unscrew the screws underneath them.

  Unscrew the left front foot, then remove the screw underneath it.

  Open the Wii console top door, with the DVD slot facing to the right.

  Unscrew the screw on the top right inside the Wii door.

  Pull gently on the front panel of the Wii to remove it from the rest of the console. Gently pull out the plug inside to remove the wiring, plug and panel completely.

  Look at your new Wii DVD slot to get an idea of the part of the current DVD slot that needs to be removed. Gently pop the current DVD plastic off.

  Pop the new custom DVD gate onto the part of the console where you just removed the old plastic. This new cover, which comes in colors including red and green, will make your Wii console LED shine a new color, the color of the new custom DVD gate.

  Replace the plug and wire from the front panel back into the motherboard and snap the front panel back into place.

  Restore all the other screws to their original position.
