How to Get Different Fruit in Animal Crossing: City Folk

When you first come to town in "Animal Crossing: City Folk," you quickly realize you need money to buy supplies and pay off the mortgage on your new house. The fruit on the trees in your town earns you a few bells, the game's currency, when sold at the store. If you grow fruit trees that are not native to your town, though, you get a better source of income. Each foreign fruit sells for 500 bells, so you make 1,500 bells if you sell all the fruit on a foreign tree. To get foreign fruits, you can visit a friend's town or get your neighbors to give you one.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the menu and select "Friends" if you have a Nintendo Friend Code. You must have a Friend Code to visit other players' towns. Type the Friend Code and select "Done."

    • 2

Head to the main gate in your town and talk to Copper, the dog guarding the right side of the gate. Select "I wanna go out!" and "Nintendo WFC."

    • 3

Select the town associated with the Friend Code you entered. You travel to the selected town.

    • 4

Find a fruit tree in your friend's town. If the town has fruit that your town does not have, shake the tree to take a fruit or two. Leave your friend's town and return to yours.

    • 5

Mail letters to your neighbors if you do not have a Nintendo Friend Code. To write a letter, you need a pack of stationery. Buy one from Nook's store or pick one up from the town recycling bin.

    • 6

Type a letter to any neighbor you want, including words like "fruit" and "friend." Your neighbors only understand certain words, and "friend" sometimes prompts them to give you a gift. Put one of your local fruits into the letter's envelope and send it via the Post Office.

    • 7

Check your mailbox in a day or two. If your neighbor sent you a reply letter, open it. A foreign fruit may be included with the letter as a gift. If you did not get a fruit, keep sending letters until you do.

Check the beach every day for coconuts that have washed ashore from distant islands. This is the only way to get a coconut.
