How to Beat Gobul in Monster Hunter Tri

"Monster Hunter Tri" for Nintendo Wii is the third installment of the "Monster Hunter" series. The action role-playing game centers around completing quests for an entity called "The Guild." As the title suggests, most of the quests involve slaying different monsters. Gobul is one of the more difficult monsters in the game. Classified as a Leviathan, Gobul is essentially a giant angler fish. Although the battle may seem daunting initially, use the right techniques to defeat him relatively painlessly.

Instructions

- 1
  Travel to a flooded or underwater area. Gobuls hide in the seabed with just their lantern, the light on the end of the antenna, exposed. Look for slightly raised sand or air bubbles rising from the seabed.

  Attack the Gobul directly using a sneak attack or sonic bomb. A sneak attack is crucial to gaining the upper-hand at the beginning of the fight. He is vulnerable to thunder and fire, but little else.

  Concentrate your attacks on the Gobul's lantern. He uses the lantern to emit a powerful paralyzing attack, so it is important to destroy it first.

  Attack the Gobul's tail after you destroy the lantern. The Gobul fights in and out of the water, so attack the tail once you are both on land. Continue to attack the tail until it breaks off, preventing its damaging tail swipe attack.

  Continue to cast fire and lightning on the Gobul until its hit points are diminished. Stay away from its mouth, if possible, as it has a devastating bite. Try to lure the Gobul onto land, as it is much more vulnerable out of the water.

  Carve up the body of the Gobul once you defeat it for a number of items.
