Mayor Tortimer is an important character in "Animal Crossing: Wild World," because he tells the history behind important events occurring in the city. With all of the golden items you can become the mayor, who is also a turtle. This character is key to finding out information to continue forth in the game. His insight will help you plan the best way to attend and complete festivals as well as understand why certain parts of the game exist as they do.

Instructions

  Walk to the town hall. Mayor Tortimer is inside the town hall sleeping. You must wake him up in order to talk to him. He is also found in the civic center. Enter the civic center in the city center to find the mayor. Again he will be sleeping, and you must wake him up to talk to him about the event.

  Attend the acorn fest to also find the mayor. He is dressed in costume. Speak with him to discuss the reasons behind the acorn fest.

  Obtain two shovels. Plant one in the ground and wait 24 hours. Harvest the shovel to get the gold shovel.

  Catch every bug in the game to obtain the golden net. To get the golden fishing rod, catch every fish.

  Shoot 15 presents with the slingshot. When you shoot the 16th gift, it will be the golden slingshot. Once you complete all of these tasks, you have unlocked the mayor as a cheat to the game.
