How to Keep People From Moving Forever in Animal Crossing: City Folk

In "Animal Crossing: City Folk," the third installment of Nintendo's "Animal Crossing" series of social simulation games, players develop and maintain towns of animal residents. If players do not regularly interact with each of their town's residents, the neglected residents may decide to permanently move away. Fortunately, players who visit residents prior to their departure can nearly always persuade them to remain in the town.

Instructions

    • 1

Approach each of your town's residents and press the "A" button on your Wiimote to speak to them. Residents can be found inside their houses or walking around the town, depending upon the time of day. Residents intending to leave the town allude to their plans in dialogue with the player.

    • 2

Visit the departing resident's home after they announce their plans to leave. The resident's furniture will be packed in boxes inside the home the day before he or she is scheduled to move away. Speak to the resident at least three times inside his or her home and select dialogue options that encourage the resident to remain in your town. While each resident has different dialogue prompts, all conversations with moving residents include responses that persuade them to stay.

    • 3

Exit the resident's home and wait until at least 8:00 a.m. of the following day. Visit the resident's home again: if you have successfully persuaded the resident to stay, his or her furniture will be unpacked and arranged in throughout house. If the resident's furniture remains packed, repeat the process until you convince the resident to stay.
