How to Calibrate a Wii Remote for Direct Aim

Direct aim is needed for various types of games for the Nintendo Wii. This means the aim and direction of the remote is important to playing the games. The usability of the remote is dictated by the placement of the sensor bar. However, you will first need to perform a one-time synchronization or calibration of your remote before completing the placement of the sensor bar.

Instructions

  1. One-Time Synchronization

      Open the battery cover to verify that batteries are installed in the Wii remote.

      Point the remote at the Wii console and press the "Home" button. This will display the "Home" menu on the screen.

      Select the option for "Wii Remote Settings." Select the option on the next screen for "Reconnect."

      Press buttons "1" and "2" on the remote simultaneously to synchronize the remote. You will see the red LED light begin to blink. When the LED stops blinking, the remote is successfully synchronized.

    Placement of Sensor Bar

      Select the "Wii" icon that is in the lower left corner of the screen. Select the "Sensor Bar" option on the screen and then select "Position."

      Select the option for the placement of the sensor bar. The options you can choose are "Above" or "Below" the TV.

      Select the option for "Sensitivity" and you will see five levels.

      Select a lower level if you are within 3 to 4 feet of the game sensor bar. Select a higher level if you are within 7 to 8 feet of the sensor bar.
