How to Beat Tabuu With Fox in Brawl

Use a rolling dodge to stay away from Tabuu when he teleports, as he will occasionally leave an explosion behind when he does so. Exploit his brief moment of vulnerability that occurs after his fourth consecutive teleport -- use a Smash Attack if you are close to him, and use your blaster if you're at a distance.

Dodge Tabuu's attacks instead of trying to block or reflect them. Jump over his charging blade attack, as well as the attack where he turns into the tip of a spear. Fox's "down aerial kick" (press "Down" and "A" while jumping) can do damage during Tabuu's charging blade attack if you're careful.

Roll towards Tabuu if he appears over the stage (instead of to the side of it), as his next move will be a barrage of needle-like bullets. Successfully rolling to the opposite side of the attack will give you a chance to inflict damage. Use your shield to block some of the bullets if you fail to dodge it completely, and roll away from the large energy blast that finishes the move.

Roll towards Tabuu if he teleports directly behind you to avoid his slashing attack. Use Smash Attacks while he is busy with the attack (being careful not to go past his body and into the attack.) Roll away from Tabuu if he's about to use his whip attack, as it does major damage.

Roll away from the lights that flash across the stage during one of Tabuu's Pinpoint Explosion attack; explosions will occur where the lights were. Use your blaster or other projectile attacks when Tabuu surrounds himself with rotating electric shields, being careful not to get hit by them.

Avoid Tabuu completely if he uses a golden bracket attack (which will cause instant knockouts at higher difficulty levels) or if he spreads his arms and summons explosive clones. Jump and mid-air dodge to avoid the golden brackets, but stay on the ground and use rolling dodges to avoid the clones.

Double-jump over the huge blast emitted by Tabuu's Dragon Laser. Use "Firefox" (press "Up" and "B") if necessary, as this move is likely to kill you in a single blow if it hits. Use a mid-air dodge or sidestep dodge to avoid Tabuu's eye lasers. If you're close enough to him when he uses this attack, you'll have a brief chance to attack him.

Double-jump over Tabuu's boomerang/ninja star attack. Land quickly after dodging the initial throw, and quickly use a second double-jump to avoid the return swing.

Sidestep dodge to avoid the instant-knockout Off Waves that Tabuu summons when he grows wings. Learning the timing for dodging these is critical, so practice against him until you're proficient at it.

Exploit the brief pause that occurs after every one of Tabuu's attacks; you will have only a few seconds to deal damage. Use your blaster if Tabuu is too far away to reach and use Smash Attacks against before he recovers. You must deal damage to him during most or all of these pauses to wear him down before he defeats you.
