The Basement Level
You are initially placed in the Robinson basement at the beginning of the "Borrow the Time Machine" level of the game. You must seek out the Robinson's time machine in order to undo the events of the villainous Bowler Hat Guy. This basement is the opening to the laboratory where the time machine is being held, and getting through it is part one of completing your task. The doors you must pass through are initially locked, however.
The Receptionist
A robotic receptionist resides in the basement in front of some closed doors. These are the doors you need to open in order to get out of the basement and proceed with the rest of the level, but the receptionist is powered down. You will need to get the receptionist turned back on so that it can open the doors that are sealing you in the basement. To do this, you will need to interact with the grey box located on the wall near the receptionist. You can also use your scanner on the receptionist to collect some scanned information.
The Power Box
The gray box on the wall near the receptionist is a power box. You need to charge it up in order to wake the receptionist. First, scan the power box to gather information about it. Interact with the power box after scanning it to remove the box's casing. Equip your "charge glove" and shoot it at the uncovered power box. This will give the receptionist a jolt of electricity and enable it to power on and assist you.
Through the Doors
After waking the receptionist, the doors located behind it will open up. This leads to the hallway that allows you out of the basement and into the other areas of the level. Push a vase closer to one of the columns so that you can climb onto the vase and over the column. After dropping down, you can access the entrance to the laboratory by pushing another vase so that it is next to the laser scanner. This allows you to climb onto a high ledge and reach the lab door.
