How to Use the Nintendo Zapper

The Nintendo Zapper, or "Wii Zapper," is not so much an actual controller as it is a gun-like shell into which you insert your Wiimote and attached nunchuk controller. The Zapper is intended for use with first-person shooting games, and is designed to give those games a more realistic feel by putting a gun-like shape into your hands rather than have you flail around with a square brick of plastic and its attached teardrop-shaped nunchuk.

Instructions

  Slide the panel on the underside of the Wii Zapper down to open the cable storage compartment.

  Swing the nunchuk lock open and attach the nunchuk to the back of the Wii Zapper. The two posts on the back of the zapper will line up with the screw holes in the nunchuk.

  Close the nunchuk lock, then loop the cable down underneath the Zapper and into the cable storage compartment.

  Wrap the cable around the plastic posts in the cable storage compartment, then feed the end through the slot directly in front of the cable compartment.

  Replace the cable compartment cover and plug the connector cable into the back of the Wiimote.

  Press the small button immediately below the cable slot on the Wii Zapper and slide your Wiimote, front first, into the top of the Wii Zapper.

  Release the button to lock down the Wiimote.

  Launch your Wii game. Aim the gun and pull the trigger to fire at on-screen enemies.
