How to Softmod a Wii With Flash Drive

Softmodding a Nintendo Wii requires no advanced technical knowledge and takes less than 15 minutes to do. A softmod allows the user to further customize the Wii and perform various tweaks on the console. Unlike a hardmod, where the unit is physically opened and modified; a softmod only modifies the internal operating system. If the user makes a mistake, he can always revert back to the original pre-mod state.

  Download a Wii softmod installer. There are a number of sites that offer the softmod software for free. There is not one "brand" of softmod and multiple designers have all made their own softmods.

  Load the softmod installer onto a USB flash drive.

  Insert the USB flash drive into the Wii's USB port.

  Turn on the Wii. Some softmods will automatically install the mod when the system is turned on.

  Access the USB drive from the Wii's menu and execute the installer. The softmod will automatically install itself on the Wii.
