How to Resync the Wii Remote

The Nintendo Wii uses a wireless remote to communicate your actions with the console, allowing you to have free range of motion when playing a game. Occasionally, a Wii remote loses its connection with the Wii console, requiring resynchronization of the two. Nintendo has included a process to quickly sync the remote and console, but it does erase synchronization with any other remotes currently synced, requiring the resynchronization of all of your remotes.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Power" button on your Wii to turn it off. Unplug it from the wall for three to four seconds. Plug in the Wii and press the "Power" button to turn it on.

    • 2

Open the vertical compartment on the front of the Wii, to the left of where you insert games. Press, and continue holding, the small red button that reads "Sync" for 15 seconds to clear all remotes that are synced with the Wii.

    • 3

Remove the battery cover on the back of your Wii remote. Push on the red button by the batteries and let go. Verify that the Wii console's lights are flashing blue.

    • 4

Press the red "Sync" button in the Wii console compartment and let go. The blue lights on the Wii remote should flash briefly, then turn solid blue to indicate that the remote is synced.
