Blinking Light
One problem that balance board users have is a blinking light on the balance board and no communication with the Wii Fit game. When this happens, there are a few things that a user can try. The first is to determine whether the batteries need to be changed. Lack of communication is often caused by low batteries.
Out of Sync
A blinking light can also occur when the balance board and the Wii console are out of sync. Try synching the Wii balance board as you would a Wii remote. Be sure to insert a Wii balance board compatible game, choose the game to start, then remove the battery cover on the bottom of the balance board so you can see the sync button there. Open the SD card slot on the front of the Wii console where the red sync button is located. Push the sync button on the balance board, then quickly push the sync button on the Wii.
Plush Carpet
Using the Wii balance board on plush carpets can cause some problems, such as inaccurate weight measurements or premature shutdown of the balance board while a person is playing. To avoid these issues, use the Wii foot extensions on each of the four balance board feet. Another solution is a third-party balance board mat laid over the carpet.
Weight Limits and Multiple Boards
Other questions that users often ask about the Wii balance board include the upper weight limit for using the board and whether more than one player can use boards at the same time in the same game. For the U.S. and Australian versions of the Wii Fit games, the balance board can accommodate up to 330 pounds. For the Japanese version, the weight limit is 300 pounds. Only one balance board can be used at a time with a Wii. For multi-player games, the players take turns.
