Climb up the books to the right of where you start the "Acorn in the Safe" quest. Walk through the hole in the wall, then turn right and climb up to the platform. Proceed across the platform and you will learn a new skill that allows you to use a grappling hook to swing across gaps.
Swing across the gap using your new skill -- there is an in-game tutorial that you get immediately after learning the skill. You will see a picture of a safe with an arrow pointing to the left -- walk past it, then jump to a platform.
Run to the right once you land on the platform, then jump through the hole in the wall to get to another platform. Jump toward the gap, then turn to the left while in midair to reach a small corridor.
Walk through the corridor and over the pipe, then climb onto the brickwork. Take a left and follow the path to another hook that you can grapple to cross the gap. Follow the linear path through a corridor to reach a horizontal pipe -- electricity periodically shoots out at the pipe, so wait until it stops before climbing across the gap.
Go through the hole in the wall to end up in a book shelf, then take a left. Walk past all of the books until you reach an open area. Use the rope to drop down to the next shelf, walk across this shelf, then use a second rope to drop all the way to the bottom of the area.
Follow the arrows painted on the floor to find the clubhouse and the combination to the safe. Backtrack all the way to the picture of the safe that you found earlier.
Climb the rope adjacent to the picture of the safe, then climb across the horizontal pipe to cross the gap. Grapple onto the hook to reach the safe and watch the animation as Thimbletack opens the safe.
Jump onto the pile of money in the left corner of the safe, jump onto the book, then jump across to the pile of money in the right corner to get the acorn. Exit this area through the hole in the wall to return to the study and complete the quest.
