How to Calibrate the Wiimote

The Wii remote, or Wiimote, allows you to control a cursor and gaming characters while playing the console via the Wii sensor bar. There are several factors that cause these remotes to malfunction, such as using the Wiimote with a different console than the one you own. There is no way to manually calibrate the Wiimote to a specific location, such as the very center of your television set. Re-synching the remote with your device allows you to troubleshoot the Wiimote and keeps you from needing a new remote.

Instructions

    • 1

Place fresh batteries into the Wii remote.

    • 2

Turn the Wii console on. Wait until the console's main menu screen loads.

    • 3

Open the flap found on the front of the console beneath the disc slot.

    • 4

      Remove the Wiimote's battery cover.

    • 5

Press the "Syncho" button located underneath the flap on the console.

    • 6

Press the small red button that's located under the Wiimote's battery cover. The LED on the console blinks. Once the blinking stops, the remote is calibrated.
