How to Troubleshoot Mario Kart

"Mario Kart" first premiered on the Nintendo 64 gaming console but the Wii console has taken the game to a whole new level. In the game, you play as one of many different characters from the Nintendo universe, such as Mario, Luigi or even Yoshi the dinosaur. It is a racing game and your vehicle, or "Kart," is controlled by a wireless controller in the shape of a steering wheel. The game does require some setup, so if you can't quite figure out how to get it working, there are quick ways to troubleshoot the problems you may be having.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the Wii console to make sure all cables are plugged securely into the ports at the rear of the unit and that they are connected properly to your television according to the Wii setup manual.

    • 2

Check the game disc to make sure it is free of any scuffs or scratches. If there are scratches, try using a disc scratch removal kit (available from electronics supply stores) to remove the scratches.

    • 3

Check the wheel and make sure that the Wii controller is plugged securely into the horizontal port in the wheel. The "Power" button on the controller should be in the bottom-left corner of the wheel. The "B" button on the rear of the controller should be aligned with the "B" button on the rear of the wheel. The controller should not be at all loose in the port.

    • 4

Press "Start" from the main menu screen of "Mario Kart" to begin a new game.
