My Wii Has No Color & No Sound on a Visio TV

The Nintendo Wii is designed to work with all modern televisions, but problems can sometimes arise. Often, the solution is a quick and easy fix. Use a few troubleshooting steps to try to alleviate the problem with the Wii and your Visio television. If these procedures do not work, you may need to contact Nintendo for additional assistance.
  1. Cables &Connections

    • Check the Wii audio-video cable to ensure all plugs are fully connected into the proper locations. The AV multi-out plug should connect to the AV multi-out connector on the back of the Wii console. The yellow video plug and the white (left) and red (right) audio plugs should connect into the AV inputs on the back of your Visio television. If you use a component cable for your Wii connection, make sure the blue and red video connectors are inserted into the proper component input connectors on the TV.

    Input Selection

    • Double check which input you inserted the Wii into on the back of your TV and make sure it corresponds to the input you are trying to use on your Visio. If you have the input selector on the wrong connection the screen will be blank.

    Checking Sound Quality

    • Adjust the volume control on the Visio to make sure you do not have the mute function inadvertently activated. Remember, some Wii games do not feature any sound until the game begins. Check the game's instruction booklet, as some allow you to adjust sound option to better match your Visio TV. Experiment with the choices to create the best gaming experience.

    Nintendo Customer Support

    • If you are unable to fix the audio or video issues between the Wii and your TV, contact Nintendo's Customer Support for more troubleshooting or repair options. Call 800-255-3700 or go to support.Nintendo.com.
