In "Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity," players can unlock the Chaos Emerald gear for Sonic to wear during gameplay. When Sonic puts it on he is transformed into Super Sonic -- a spikier, gold-furred, faster and more powerful version of his previous self. As Super Sonic he can defeat any enemy, but is incapable of racing and using spring-boards. Super Sonic consumes double the amount of rings as his regular mode, making it hard to wear the Chaos Emerald for very long before dying.

Select "Story Mode" in the game's main menu.

Select Sonic as the character you will be racing as.

Achieve a ranking of "X" in each of the 12 missions of Story Mode. After this, the Chaos Emerald gear will be unlocked, and available for Sonic to use.
