How Can I Change My Wii Remote's Light Color?

The Nintendo Wii was first introduced in 2006. It featured several new capabilities not available on earlier systems, including built-in Wi-Fi and wireless, motion-sensitive remote controls. Those wireless controls give off light at certain times during game play. While the color of the light is set inside the controller housing, you can change the color by adding a translucent "skin" to the exterior of the remote. As the light passes through the skin, it will taken on the hue of that skin color.

Instructions

Determine what controllers you want to cover. The Wii system makes two types of controllers. The Remote and the Nunchuck. There are skins available for either.

    • 2

Select the color skin you wish to purchase. The official Nintendo website sells white, black, blue and pink. Other game retailers -- GameStop, Toys 'R Us and EB Games -- also sell different colored skins for the Remote and Nunchuck.

Place the skin on the Remote or Nunchuck. Slide the base of either the Remote or Nunchuck into the base of the skin. Work the skin around the rest of the controller by bending it around the exterior. The skin is very pliable and has a lot of elasticity. It is easy to work around the controller.

Play Nintendo Wii video games. Depending on the game, your controller will light up at different times. As the light shines through the skin, the light will take on the new hue.
