List of Unlockable Stages in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," you start the game with several stages and arenas already unlocked. The game offers plenty of unlockable treats, however, including 12 extra stages. Some stages are fan favorites from the previous game, "Super Smash Bros. Melee," while others are completely new. Each stage has a special requirement that you must fulfill to unlock it.
  1. Luigi's Mansion and Mario Bros.

    • You can unlock Luigi's Mansion fairly quickly by selecting Luigi as your fighter and then using him in three versus mode matches. Luigi's Mansion is based on the GameCube game of the same title and is filled with spooky ghosts and traps.

A related level, Mario Bros., is a throwback to the original "Super Mario Bros." game for the first Nintendo console. This stage is unlocked by beating Event Match No. 19.

    Pokemon Stadium and Spear Pillar

    • Pokemon Stadium is a returning stage from the previous "Smash Bros." game. It features a crowded arena for allowing Pokemon to show off their skills in battle. The stage is unlocked by playing in the "Pokemon Stadium 2" stage 10 times in Versus mode.

Spear Pillar is another stage based on a special area of the Nintendo DS games "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Pearl." In the games, this is where players encountered the legendary Pokemon Palkia and Dialga. Unlock Spear Pillar by winning Event Match No. 25.

    Pirate Ship and Jungle Japes

    • The Pirate Ship level takes you to a familiar scene from the Nintendo GameCube game "The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker." You must battle on a small ship that is constantly battered by waves. Unlock the stage by unlocking the Toon Link character. You can get Toon Link by beating the game's story mode, Subspace Emissary, and then beating classic mode once.

Jungle Japes, returning from the previous game, features the tropical forest that Donkey Kong calls home. Simply play any stage in versus mode 10 times to unlock the level.

Flat Zone 2 and Big Blue

    • Flat Zone 2 is perhaps one of the strangest stages in the game. It is based on the "Game &Watch" games, which debuted more than 25 years ago. The stage periodically transforms, requiring you to stay on your toes if you want to take advantage of the situation and defeat your opponent. Unlock Flat Zone 2 by unlocking Mr. Game &Watch. You receive him when you play the Target Smash mini-game with 30 different characters.

Big Blue returns from the previous game, and is a side-scrolling stage based on the "F-Zero" franchise. Players must hop from one speeding airship to another to avoid getting knocked out. Get this stage by using Captain Falcon 10 times in any stage.

    75m and Green Greens

    • The 75m stage takes you back in time as you visit the first arcade "Donkey Kong" game. Just like the arcade game, the stage is filled with bouncing barrels and other hazards. Unlock it by using Donkey Kong 20 times in any level.

Green Greens, a stage from "Kirby's Dreamland," features living trees and gently sloping hills. It's an ideal stage for beginners to learn the game's basics. Unlock the stage by using Kirby 20 times in any stage.

    Hanenbrow and Green Hill Zone

    • Mastering the Hanenbrow stage may take a bit of work. The stage puts fighters into an aquarium, and they must then battle atop the leaves of aquatic plants. If the leaves are attacked enough, they disappear completely, leaving combatants little space on which to stand. Win Event Match No. 28 to unlock the stage.

Green Hill Zone is likely familiar to "Sonic the Hedgehog" fans. This is the first level of Sonic's original game on the Sega Genesis. The stage is built on a steep slope, so players need to account for this when planning a battle strategy. Get Green Hill Zone by unlocking Sonic. To unlock Sonic, either play in Brawl mode for 10 hours or win Classic mode using 10 different characters.
