Tips for Playing & Winning in Wii Fit

"Wii Fit" for the Nintendo Wii will test your balance, strength and running abilities with a variety of exercises and minigames that use the accompanying balance board peripheral. This 2007 title provides plenty of options for setting goals, and you can master the activities contained on the disc with practice and strategy.
  1. Practicing Your Balance

    • Many of the activities in "Wii Fit" require you to demonstrate a strong sense of balance. Before undertaking any particularly tricky balance games, you can practice your skills by taking the body test. This test requires you to stand as still as possible on the balance board as well as moving your body left and right to align your balance with sliders that change position. If you can master this test, earning a low "Wii Fit" age, you should excel at the balance games.

    Setting Goals

    • After you complete a body test, you view your current body mass index and can set a goal for reducing this number over a period of time. It's key to set reasonable goals because you can become easily frustrated when you are not close to achieving your target number. You can set goals for two weeks, a month or longer. View the progress by choosing "BMI" at the Wii Fit Plaza, which charts your progress with a graph.

    Rhythmic Boxing Mastery

    • The rhythmic boxing game requires you to punch with the Wii remote and nunchuk while stepping in the correct rhythm. You must follow the pattern, which gets progressively more difficult as the session goes on. If you time your punches correctly, you earn double points. The biggest key to a high score is rapid punching in the last 10 seconds of the exercise. During this freestyle time, use quick jabs on the punching bad to boost your score.

    Ski Slalom Champion

    • Lean left and right on the balance board to send your skier between the flags to make it downhill the fastest. You are penalized seven seconds for each flag you miss. Lean forward at the start of the race to gain more speed when the flags are farther apart. Pull back some near the bottom of the hill when tight maneuvering is key.
