How to Beat the Great Tiger in Punch-Out on Wii

"Punch-Out" was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2009. As Little Mac, you will face thirteen opponents in the boxing ring in your quest to gain the Heavyweight belt. However, this is not your typical boxing match, as each boxer has a number of special moves they will use on you during a fight. Great Tiger, the seventh boxer you will face, will use magic in an attempt to confuse you.

Instructions

    • 1

When Great Tiger's gem on his turban flashes yellow, perform a jab to gain a star. If the gem is red, do not attempt to jab him, as he will counterattack. Dodge any jabs by moving to the left or right.

    • 2

Dodge in the direction Great Tiger moves in order to dodge his uppercut. For example, if Great Tiger crouches to the right, dodge to the right to avoid the incoming uppercut. After the uppercut is dodged, punch Great Tiger with jabs, hooks and uppercuts. Uppercuts, which are more powerful than normal punches, require a star to use.

    • 3

When the Great Tiger splits into two for his Rushing Magic Attack, dodge in the direction of the real Great Tiger. The fake Great Tiger will be partially transparent, and his attacks do no damage. Both versions of Great Tiger will attack when his gem lights up -- dodge in the direction of the real one to avoid his attacks and counter-attack with your own jabs and punches.

    • 4

Throw a hook at the exact moment Great Tiger is rushing at you during his Rushing Magic Attack. If you connect with the hook, Great Tiger will be knocked down no matter how much health he has.

    • 5

Press the "1" and "2" buttons at the same time repeatedly whenever Great Tiger is knocked out to regain your health. Additionally, you may press "Select" in between rounds to gain a large amount of health. However, this method can only be done once per fight.

    • 6

Continue to dodge Great Tiger's attacks and counter-attack until he has been knocked out three times in one round, or no longer gets up. Great Tiger is knocked out when his health bar, at the top-right corner of the screen, has been reduced to nothing.
